Zoochosis

Zoochosis is animal body horror by way of The Thing and it launches this September

We Fought a Zoo.

If you’re not afraid to change the way you look at zoos forever, might I direct you to the new trailer for Zoochosis? The horror sim that puts you in the least attractive zookeeper position possible is now set to launch on September 23. At a glance, it looks like The Thing with twisted and infected zoo animals as the hosts.

The first time we saw what developer Clapperheads has in the works was in June, during Day of the Devs SGF Edition. IGN followed up with the exclusive reveal of the release date, and you can watch as body horror hell is unleashed upon a zoo in the new trailer.

The setup of Zoochosis is as simple as any story that ends in a nasty parasite spreading throughout a ton of captive animals. You’re the zookeeper and it’s your first night shift, so naturally everything goes about as horribly wrong as possible.

As depicted through the lens of your bodycam, strange behavior abounds throughout the zoo’s many creatures. Kangaroo pouches morph into massive mouths that vomit up bile. Giraffes contort and split into spider-like monstrosities. Hipposā€¦ well, hippos are already scary, and if you’re not afraid of them, you should be. The beasts on display in the trailer are great examples of survival horror grotesqueries, so hopefully it’s as fun to face them head-on as it is to watch.Ā

As tempting as it might be once you see them, your job isn’t to go in guns blazing and eradicate all of nature’s mistakes. You’re the zookeeper, after all, so it’s up to you to find out what happened to the animals and how to cure them. If you can get close enough to them to continue your regimen of caretaking and cleaning, you can do anything.Ā

Zoochosis currently has its eyes on a PC release via Steam.Ā
