Zenless Zone Zero The Prophecy guide: How to complete and unlock all endings

The most polarizing commission in Zenless Zone Zero, The Prophecy sends players on an epic quest where steadily increasing your stats and befriending select NPCs (known within as the seven Virtues and seven Sins) are the keys to success.

But given its two-hour time frame and how the commission is fully played in monitor mode, completing it can be seen as the hardest endeavor in the game. To help you do that as quickly as possible, here’s how to trigger The Prophecy commission and unlock all of its endings in ZZZ.

How to trigger The Prophecy commission in ZZZ

After completing the game’s second main chapter and reaching Inter-Knot level 40, you will be able to unlock The Prophecy by heading to the payphone located by the Random Play parking lot and interacting with the students highlighted below.

After hearing the student’s conversation, the next step will be returning to the payphone at midnight and talking to the Frustrated Passerby, who will ask you to answer it. To pass the in-game time, I recommend completing either the “Testing With Your Life Actually on the Line” or the “Gaze: Route Maintenance” commissions.

Once you answer the call, pick any dialogue option, wait for another in-game day, and reply under the “Need someone skilled at exploring weird Hollows” Iner-Knot post. Doing that will cause your new employer to send you a DM, thus officially triggering The Prophecy commission.

How to unlock all The Prophecy endings in ZZZ

You can unlock the true ending for The Prophecy in ZZZ by defeating its final boss after befriending all Virtues and Sins. Doing so will also reward PS5 players with the Final Director’s Cut trophy. Facing the commission’s final boss without befriending a single NPC will reward you with the True Hero in-game achievement.

The Prophecy walkthrough

After starting the commission and talking to the Prophet, you can complete The Prophecy while befriending all 14 NPCs in ZZZ by first getting the Holy Armor. To do that, relocate four points to Strength and one to Intelligence before interacting with the vending machine below to get a Cross Blast bomb. You will need three of them to get the Holy Armor early, so save the item and continue onward to help Prudence defeat Wrath.

Once Wrah is defeated and Prudence has befriended you, head upward and talk to Envy, who will ask you to hunt down Greed. In front of Envy, you will also spot the Holy Sword locked behind a series of three gates. You will need to have 30 Strength, 30 Dexterity, and 30 Intelligence to open them.

From Envy’s location, go upward and trigger all of the Gear Coin events before heading down to find a shop. The shop will allow you to pay for stat increases and reward you with Cross Blast bombs after a set number of purchases. Boost your stats here and continue downward to meet Buridan, who you must hit once to befriend.

After befriending Buridan, you will be able to spot Absolution further down. Before purchasing his bomb and befriending him, head southwest toward the area below, which will feature an SOS event. Once there, defeat all regular enemies and trigger all gear coin events before heading to the shop and boosting your stats until you get a bomb. From there, go to Absolution and befriend him. Keep in mind that you can lower the price of the bomb by having enough INT.

Now that you have all three bombs, it’s time to get the Holy Armor. To do that, head back to the commission’s starting area and plant two bombs on the spot below, one at a time.

Once the path is open, you will spot the Holy Armor, three Ethereals, and Modesty. To befriend him and get the armor, simply plant your third bomb by the side of the Ethereals and talk to him once they are dead.

Now that you have the Holy Armor, our goal will be to get the Holy Shield and raise every stat to 30. To do that, return to the area featuring the SOS signal and interact with it to meet Greed. After Greed is defeated and befriended, return to Envy and talk to him to get a +5 INT boost before defeating him.

After defeating Envy, return to the area where you meet Greed and head right to meet Vulcan. You will be able to befriend Vulcan and get the Holy Shield by bringing him 1x Bucker, 1x Hardest Iron, and 5,000 coins. Don’t forget to defeat any enemy that you can on your way down to boost your stats and HP.

After meeting Vulcan, head to the plaza located southwest of his location As you can see below, the area will be gigantic and feature both a series of enemies, as well as Benignity and Humhum. Defeat Humhum to get the Hardest Iron.

After defeating and befriending Humhum, head left and face Wrath a second time before entering the portal at her left. The portal will transport you to the area below, where you can meet Purity. If you have at least 30,000 Gear Coins, give the sum to her to befriend her. If not, fight some enemies to get the sum first.

Now that you have a substantial amount of gear coins, head to the area where you got the Holy Armor and make your way down until you spot the shop below. The shop will sell +2 stat increases for a starting price of 3,000. Like the first one, you will also get a bomb after a few upgrades. We will need the bomb to get the Bucker, so get it and return to Vulcan.

After reaching Vulcan, you will be able to get the Bucker by heading south and planting a bomb in any of the areas highlighted in the image below. Before doing so, I recommend that you open all four vault doors in the area to unlock a special shop selling ATK, CRIT DMG, and Coin Acquisition buffs. With the Bucker at hand, talk to Vulcan to forge the Holy Shield.

Now that you have both the Holy Shield and Armor, focus on defeating as many Ethereals as you can and use the shop to get all of your stats to 30. To keep the holy Armor DMG boost at a good value, try to keep your health above 2,000. Once you reach the stat requirements, head to the gates and get the Holy Sword.

With all of the pieces of Holy Equipment on your person, head to the second stat shop and make your way down until you meet Temperance. As you will need to defeat a cumulative total of 40 Ethereals to befriend him, focus on doing that.

After adding Temperance to your list, it’s time to activate the Enhancement Devices north of the second shop. As each can only be activated if you have 50 on a respective stat, return to Benignity and attack it to receive a large sum before focusing on triggering events, fighting enemies, and purchasing upgrades. Once you reach 50 in both INT and DEX, activate their respective devices. Only activate the STR one if your HP is above 4,000.

Now that you have the buffs courtesy of the DEX and INT devices, head north until you spot Desire. The fight with Desire will be a 5v1, so make sure you have enough HP for it.

After defeating and befriending desire, boost your HP until you have our recommended amount and activate the STR Enhancement Device to double its value. Make sure to also defeat any Ethereals you can and trigger most events, as we are now in the endgame. With that done, head to the area below to meet and fight Pride.

Now that you defeated Pride and befriended all Virtues and Sins, head toward the Corrupted Human and steal the True Holy Sword. This is a must, as the item will both offer the best buff in the commission and it’s vital to unlock the true ending. After stealing the item, don’t engage the boss. Instead, make your way to the sword and attempt to pull it. Each failed attempt will damage you but your high stats will make sure you stand firm.

After getting the sword, simply defeat the Corrupted Human and select both “Call All” and “Insist on choosing both sides” before defeating the First Hero to unlock both the commission’s true final boss and its true ending.
