It was a long journey, but it has come to an end. A month and a half ago, the Banjo-Kazooie-esque 3D platformer showed up on Kickstarter, and it crushed its initial goal of £175,000 on day one, hitting over £1 million within the first 24 hours.

The campaign slowed in the middle (in contrast to Bloodstained‘s, which maintained a good clip throughout) but it ended up with £2,090,104 in Kickstarter funding, bringing it to all platforms simultaneously, adding a multiplayer mode, and allowing for an orchestrated soundtrack, among other stretch goals.

The wait will be long, but not terribly excruciating. Yooka-Laylee is planned to release on Linux, Mac, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Windows, and Xbox One in October 2016. Developer Playtonic is still accepting PayPal donations for the project.
