Ever since it was first revealed back in the November of last year, I’ve found myself following the upcoming open-world adventure game Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles by Prideful Sloth — an indie studio from Brisbane, Australia — quite closely.

Taking place in an island known as Gemea, Yonder tasks the player with exploring the environment — which has been split into eight separate locales, each with its own unique flora and fauna — in order to uncover its secrets and to dispel a malevolent force that has plunged its inhabitants into despair. Players can also contribute to Gemea by building relationships with its citizenry, as well as partaking in activities such as cooking, crafting and fishing.

Well, it looks like there won’t be much more of a wait before this game finds its way on to online storefronts. According to a trailer that has recently been posted to Prideful Sloth’s YouTube channel, it looks like Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles will be made available to users of both the PlayStation 4 and PC on the 18th of July.

As I’ve already mentioned back when the game was first announced, I’ve always found myself interested in games that heavily prioritise exploration, as well as titles with bright and cartoony art styles. Because of this, Yonder looks incredibly appealing to me, provided that the actual gameplay manages to remain compelling in the long-run.

I’m really and truly hoping that this game turns out to be worthwhile, because dammit, it looks adorable.
