Xenoblade Chronicles X is an action RPG by Monolith Soft that originally launched on Wii U in 2015 and has remained on that console for many years, even after the subsequent release of the Nintendo Switch. Fortunately, this is finally about to change.
Out of nowhere, Nintendo announced Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on its many social media accounts, like YouTube, Twitter/X, and more. This remastered version of the critically acclaimed Wii U RPG will feature completely enhanced visuals, which you can see for yourself in this amazing accompanying trailer. Needless to say, the open world of Mira looks absolutely beautiful on the Switch.
This new version of Xenoblade Chronicles X will also include new story elements, some of which we can see briefly at the very end of the trailer. This means that this port will have something new for those who originally experienced this game on their Wii U. Lastly, Nintendo confirmed that Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch on March 20, 2025.
The entire Xenoblade Chronicles series is now available on Nintendo Switch
This is an important announcement because fans have been asking Nintendo to port Xenoblade Chronicles X to the Nintendo Switch for years. After all, the company already ported most of its best Wii U games to its new device, but this beloved Action RPG remained stuck on the company’s previous console. However, it seems that Nintendo finally listened to its fans and, in turn, they reacted with a mix of surprise and excitement.
This new port finally cements the Nintendo Switch as an excellent console for RPG aficionados, especially for those who are big fans of the Xenoblade Chronicles IP, since it means that the entire series will be available on one console: Monolith Soft remastered the first entry in 2020, with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, it released both Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 exclusively on the console and lastly, the only title that was missing, Xenoblade Chronicles X, is finally arriving to the Nintendo Switch next year. Will this legendary RPG franchise continue to thrive on Nintendo’s upcoming new console? Only time will tell.
