This summer’s Xbox One update introduces the digital personal assistant Cortana, and for those of you in the Preview program, you’ll have the chance to sample the voice-based navigation as early as this week by opting in. Cortana is accessible with a Kinect or, if you’d prefer, a standard headset.

Some of the other changes in this initial update preview include a more vertical game collection interface with less of a need to scroll and a “convergence” of the Xbox and Windows stores.

The full update is also said to enable Xbox One developer kit functionality and background music, though we’ll have to continue waiting for those two specific enhancements.
