Today Blizzard revealed details and the official name of patch 10.2 for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight. The update, titled Guardians of the Dream, is the final content update for the Dragonflight expansion. It looks to be a pretty hefty update including a new zone, new raid, new legendary weapon, and new class gear sets. Other features of the update include new public events, a new faction called the Dream Wardens, new Blood Elf customizations, Rogue and Demon Hunter class revamps, updates to the popular Dragonriding feature, and more. As is usual with these content updates, a new PvP and Mythic+ season will be released as well.
Going out with a bang
As the last content update ofĀ Dragonflight, Guardians of the Dream is looking like a nice capstone for the expansion. The new raid, Amirdrassil, The Dream’s Hope, is a nine-boss raid. For one of the bosses, Tandral Sageswift, players will even be able to Dragonrideāthe expansion’s big featureāduring the encounter. The final boss is Fyrakk, the blazing Primal Incarnate who is leading the Primalists.
The new legendary weapon, Fyr’alath, the Dream Render, looks pretty sick. It’s a 2-handed axe themed around the fiery wrath of Fyrakk. Also, there are no class-specific ties to the weapon. Although this is not common for World of Warcraft, it allows anyone that can use 2-handed axes the ability to equip the legendary weapon. However, typically legendary items are not common drops, though Blizzard says they are working on balancing the drop rate to make it feel rewarding but also something to work towards.
The new Mythic+ Dungeon rotation will include Throne of the Tides from Cataclysm and Atal’dazar from Battle for Azeroth.Ā Here’s the full list of dungeons for the Season 3 Mythic+ rotation:
- Dawn of the Infinites: Galakrond’s Fall
- Dawn of the Infinites: Murozond’s Rise
- Darkheart Thicket (Legion)
- Black Rook Hold (Legion)
- Waycrest Manor (Battle for Azeroth)
- Atal’Dazar (Battle for Azeroth)
- Everbloom (Warlords of Draenor)
- Throne of the Tides (Cataclysm)
I haven’t played since the release of the Dragonflight expansion on November 28, 2022. But looking at what’s coming inĀ Guardians of the Dream, I’m very tempted to jump back in. Historically the final content updates ofĀ World of Warcraft expansions have often been the best.
Although nothing has been confirmed, it’s expected Blizzard will reveal the nextĀ World of Warcraft expansion at BlizzCon 2023 which takes place November 3-4.
