Arguably the most popular expansion in the game’s history
During theĀ World of Warcraft Dragonflight reveal, the team had a “one more thing” prepared, and it deals withĀ WoW: Classic. It’s a World of Warcraft Classic Wrath of the Lich King release.
I should have known something was up with Holly Longdale (lead producer WoW Classic) in attendance, and lo and behold, we got a newĀ Classic reveal. It’s due out this year, and will have “some changes” among classic content.
“Dungeon finder is not a good fit for the community” ofĀ WoW Classic, according to Longdale, and the barbershop will be adding a few options that didn’t exist during the time of theĀ Wrath expansion (gender swap was mentioned, and it will not feature a paid customization fee; rather, it’ll use in-game gold). The Death Knight will start at level 55, and “everyone will be able to make one.”
The cap will be increased to 80, and Blizzard will have a “level 70 boost,” which can be applied to the Death Knight class. The beta is coming soon and the team is open to feedback for potential changes to create a mostly traditional, yet updated, version ofĀ Wrath of the Lich King.
After it was announced thatĀ Burning Crusade Classic was going to be a thing, it was pretty much a given that Blizzard would move to World of Warcraft Classic Wrath of the Lich King. They’d be leaving money on the table otherwise: just look at how popular it still is.
