Anyone who prays at the altar of the rhythm game gods knows that Pop ‘n Music has long held the top spot as the game you have to have insane skills to play (or I should say, to play well). If you live in Japan you’re already playing the SEVENTEENTH game in this series in arcades. It’s a little bit popular, which may be why we are about to get a Wii version this Fall.
Siliconera noticed that the Japanese box for the game sported the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo, which may just mean DLC for the game. While the Japanese version comes with packed with major current Japanese pop hits, the US version’s tracklist has not been announced yet. My fear here is that just like Taiko No Tatsujin, the series will not be successful here because of the selection of music chosen. Don’t want to jump to conclusions just yet, so I’ll withhold judgement until the track list actually comes to light.
If you’ve long played the imports and think you are going to get some new version of the famous button controller, I have bad news for you: there isn’t one. Apparently you play by shaking the Wiimote and nunchuk up and down to hit beats. Pop ‘n fans, is this enough to make you want to boycott this Wii version altogether?
