Why Ada Wong & Wesker are missing from Mercenaries mode Resident Evil 4 remake, explained

RE4 longs to be complete

In the originalĀ Resident Evil 4 there was a ton of stuff to do after you finished the game for the first time. Not only was Mercenaries Mode unlocked immediately (with one more level and two characters to boot), but we also got Assignment: Ada and Separate Ways ā€” extra content that shed some light on what Ada was up to during the events of the game. While Mercs is in thanks to a post-launch patch, Ada is still missing in action: both in terms of her additional modes and her Mercs inclusion. Here’s why that might be the case.

The duo will likely arrive once Separate Ways and/or Assignment: Ada are out (if it ever comes out)

Curiously, Wesker and Ada are not a part of the Mercenaries Mode for theĀ Resident Evil 4 remake at launch. Wesker and Ada are directly linked as a result ofĀ Resident Evil 4‘s story, which is something we see first-hand in the remake at the very end of the story in Chapter 16. While Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed details for the Assignment: Ada minigame or Separate Ways side story for the Resident Evil 4 remake, it has already been datamined by fans.

Putting all of this together, it’s highly likely that Capcom is looking to extend the profile of the Resident Evil 4 remake throughout the year by slowly releasing updates for it. With Ada’s content already datamined, Capcom could put it out weeks/months after launch (potentially as premium DLC), and get people to log back into the game. Wesker and Ada could be a part of that package.

The VR version of the game took a similar approach to the above method, adding Mercenaries at a later date. RE4 VR sadly still hasn’t gotten any Ada content, but hopefully we’ll get a complete Mercs mode in the remake at some point. Oh, and give us that fourth Mercs level too!
