How to start the first FFXIV Dawntrail quest (Final Fantasy XIV)

Set sail, adventurer!

Final Fantasy XIV is taking us on a whole new adventure with the Dawntrail questline, but to get to our vacation destination, we need to know where to start. Thankfully, we at least know where the next chapter of FFXIV begins.

As long as you’ve played through FFXIV Patch 6.5, you’re caught up on the story and ready to begin. Say goodbye (temporarily) to your Endwalker era zones; here’s what you need to know to start the Dawntrail MSQ.

Where is the first Dawntrail quest in FFXIV 7.0?

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail begins in Old Sharlayan by talking to Ojika Tsunjika (X:9.2, Y:11.2). Look for the quest called ‘A New World to Explore,’ to set sail for Tural and cross the Indigo Deep.

Ojika is pretty easy to find, and by this point, you’ll likely be pretty familiar with him. He’s the person you usually talk to when you wish to gain access to the Inn in Old Sharlayan.

How to begin the Dawntrail MSQ

Before you can pick up the first quest of Dawntrail, you’ll need to have done a couple of things:

  • Reach level 90 in any Disciple of War or Magic Job
  • Must complete the level 90 MSQ quest ‘The Coming Dawn’
  • Own a copy of Dawntrail and have it registered to your account

Remember to stock up on everything you need and prepare yourself before setting off on your journal to Tural, as it’s uncertain whether we’ll have access to things like Marketboards or Aetherytes as soon as we set foot on the shore.
