You can find Oily Anchovy by fishing Bahari Bay rivers, particularly around Proudhorn Pass and the Flooded Fortress, using worm bait. Reaching these areas requires entering Bahari Bay and traveling north until you pass the aqueduct, which splits the region into two halves.

From here, you’ll need to equip worms as fishing rod bait, allowing you to draw in Oily Anchovy alongside fish like Cutthroat Trout, Kilima Redfin, and Thundering Eel. You can also work toward upgrading your fishing rod to make the process easier, but this is optional.

I had the easiest time traveling north of the aqueduct to the central Bahari stables before looping around Proudhorn Pass and standing on the nearby wooden bridge. From here, I tossed my fishing rod’s line west into the water and fished until I got some anchovies. I got my first anchovy after getting a few trout and redfins. However, Flooded Fortress is a reliable alternative, and I’ve gotten multiple anchovies from visiting it.

How to get worms in Palia

Since you need worms to catch Oily Anchovy, you’ll need to either use a Worm Farm to produce some or purchase worms from the general store. The Worm Farm requires reaching fishing level four and buying the recipe from Einar for 500 gold. Alternatively, the general store sells five for 50 coins, making it relatively cheap if you’re only planning on getting a few worms for anchovy fishing.

Once you have your bait, you can attach it by opening your fishing rod’s bait menu and selecting your worms. On PC, you do this by equipping your rod, right-clicking, and picking worms as your bait. On Nintendo Switch, you’ll equip your rod, hover over your bait in your hotbar, and press X.

After picking worms as your bait, you can now fish as usual. Each fish you catch will consume one worm, so watch your supply in case you run out.
