Midra, the Lord of Frenzied Flame, was introduced to Elden Ring in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. He is well hidden away, so in this article, I will show you where to find him. Be warned, it will take you some time to get to him, and the area you travel through is tough and will take you some time to even get to.
Where to Find Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame in Elden Ring
Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame, can be found deep within the Abyssal Woods. This place is a bit of a crap hole, frankly, but I have a full guide on how to get there. Once you arrive at the start of the Abyssal Woods, you then need to make your way to Midra’s Man, shown on the map above. This is an awkward area to traverse, primarily because of the presence of some enemies that appear to be impervious to damage.
Just take your time going through the area and deal with the scary enemies as you meet them. The trick is to set them up for a parry, but if you miss it, you are likely gonna end up suffering the consequences. Make your way over the southwest corner, and you will find a bit of a rise that you can climb up. You will notice that some enchanter enemies are spawning, an indicator that you are getting close to the Manse.
Once you arrive there, the Manse itself is pretty simple to get through, as there is really just one main route. There are a couple of moments where you will need to figure out where to go based on pretty simple environmental design puzzles, but there should be no issues here. Just keep an eye out for enemies hidden in awkward places because almost everything in here has ranged magic.
Midra himself will take additional damage from Cold, Bleed, and Holy damage. He is obviously strong against Fire and doesn’t take much damage from Lightning, either. His fire damage hit incredibly hard, so ensure your resistances are in order. He does take a lot of damage, though, so rush him, do damage, and then back up when he starts charging his blast area-of-effect attack.
Midra’s Lore (some spoilers ahead)
Midra’s Lore is interesting, from what I have gathered so far. It appears that he attempted to become a Lord of Chaos but was just too weak and unable to control the frenzied flame. The Hornsent are not huge fans and have essentially locked him away in the Abyssal Woods, as it is highly unlikely anyone will make it to him here. He appears to have gone along with this willingly and wanted peace so he doesn’t succumb to madness. This hasn’t been enough to save him from punishment at the hands of the Hornsent, however, who appear to be the ones who have pierced his body with the terrifying blade he wields.
