Blood Lures drop as part of the Blood Harvest event in Diablo 4 Season 2, and theyāre one of the best ways to get incredible loot ā if you know how to use them properly.
Chances are good youāre already spending time killing enemies in Blood Harvest zones. The areas are densely packed, so theyāre great for leveling. They also help you make progress with the Tree of Whispers and help you find Potent Blood, which can be used to unlock and upgrade your Season 2 Vampire Powers.
Whenever youāre in a Blood Harvest zone, an icon that looks like a vial of blood will appear in the top right corner of the screen to track how many Blood Lures youāve collected. Your Lures will remain after you leave the zone ā or even when you log out of the game ā so you can take your time collecting as many as you need. Turning in the Blood Lures will send some serious loot and a Bloodseeker boss or two your way.
Go big or go home
You can turn in your Blood Lures at Sanguine Altars and Blood Lure Pedestals, and your choice between the two has a huge effect on the loot that youāll receive. There are multiple Sanguine Altars in a single Blood Harvest zone, and each requires just 15 Blood Lures to activate. When you have enough, you can click on the Altar to start a small fight and collect some pretty decent rewards.
Your second option is to find the trio of Blood Lure Pedestals at the center of the Blood Harvest zone. On the map, these are marked by a winged skull floating over some flames. Each Pedestal requires 50 Blood Lures to activate, and you have to turn on all three for something to happen. Donāt be like me and immediately click on the first Pedestal you see as soon as you have 50 Blood Lures, or youāll completely waste them. A party can split up the collecting work, and in theory, random players online can join forces to activate all the Pedestals, but I threw mine away the first time around.
I would highly recommend saving up for the Blood Lure Pedestals and ignoring the Sanguine Altars altogether. Collecting 150 Blood Lures doesnāt take terribly long, even when playing solo, and the Pedestals pay out an order of magnitude better than the Altars. My first Sanguine Altar had me fight a single Bloodseeker and some mobs, and it netted me one Legendary item, some rares, and a little bit of Potent Blood. My first Blood Lure Pedestal run, on the other hand, included two Bloodseekers and enough enemies to level me up, plus I scored eight Legendary items, two Seeker Keys, over 50 Potent Blood, and another 15 Blood Lures to boot.
The Bloodseekers arenāt particularly difficult bosses, so even if youāre a bit underleveled you should be able to take them down. Of course, the most efficient way to tackle this is to gather a party, speedrun Blood Lure collection, and activate the Pedestals as frequently as possible. But if youāre like me and find yourself playing solo often, Blood Lures are still one of the best ways to get loot and level your way through Season 2.Ā
Farming Tips
Blood Harvest zones are the best place to gather Blood Lures, and they can drop from almost any enemy. You can grind for Grim Favors in Blood Harvest zones and slowly collect Blood Lures in the background, but finding Blood Siphons can get you the Lures faster. Blood Siphons are randomly placed in Harvest zones, and activating one will send swarms of enemies directly to you.
The catch is that Blood Siphons actively drain a portion of your HP, which makes the actual fighting significantly harder. Youāll need to add some tankiness to your build, but if you can withstand the incoming waves without leaving the Blood Siphon area, youāll fill your Blood Lure collection quickly and get extra rewards from the Siphon as a bonus.
