What job should you choose in Luma Island?

It's career day on Luma Island!

Choosing a profession is one of the first major decisions you’ll make in Luma Island, giving you the luxuries of gold and various activities. Your initial choice in a permit will be completely free, but the rest will require a lot of moolah.

To help you set yourself on the right path, here’s what profession you should choose first in Luma Island.

Best Profession Permit to buy first in Luma Island

If you want to get money quickly in Luma Island, it’s best to go with the Fisherman Profession. When you begin this journey, you’ll unlock the Penny Herring Soup, a profitable meal that offers 1,275 gold. The recipe’s ingredients, Penny Herring and Seaweed, can be found easily around your home, so you won’t have to travel too far.

By the time you sell your first dish, you can already afford another Profession Permit for 500 gold. However, the prices for these permits will go up afterward, costing you 10,000 gold each. You’ll need to grind a ton to access these other careers, but the Fisherman Profession should move it along faster.

The only problem I had with the Fisherman Profession is that it can get slightly tedious over time. You are basically standing in one spot frequently while occasionally moving to collect the Seaweed. That said, if you like being on the move, you can opt for other jobs like Treasure Hunter and Blacksmith. These careers require many resource-collecting adventures in the caves and other areas, keeping you more entertained than Fisherman. Plus, you’ll earn a hefty amount of money to reward you for your explorations.

The rest of the professions are still good, especially if there’s one that fits your distinct play style. However, I suggest steering clear of the Jewelrycrafter initially since it isn’t the most beginner-friendly job. The mining you do with this path attracts enemies like Spiders and Ghosts, making the process difficult. But, if you are in it for the challenge, by all means, go for the Jewelrycrafter.

Each career enlists you on a starter mission that helps you understand the profession. You’ll speak to your designated mentor first, then start crafting a structure shortly after. For example, Fisherman involves the Fisherman’s Galley recipe, allowing you to cook tasty meals. The Cook and Brewer jobs work the same way, as you unlock unique dishes from the collection. However, I will say that the sell prices for the Cook and Brewer don’t really go for much initially, given their lower difficulty level.

If you want to up your difficulty, Archaeologist is the most challenging with its three-skull rank. You’ll explore various ancient civilizations and uncover treasures throughout the lands. It’ll essentially make you feel like you’re Indiana Jones as you try to avoid the threat of the many booby traps. But if this job seems a bit too much for you, you can always speak to Herbert at the Town Hall to unlock the other Luma Island professions.
