On January 16, 2024, a new MMORPG release titled Ravendawn. Featuring old-school top-down pixel graphics, Ravendawn flew under many MMO players’ radar before release. However, after release, Ravendawn has had such an influx of players that the developers have had to add an extra server and implement a better queue system. So what is Ravendawn Online MMO? Here’s what we know.
Ravendawn Online MMO Features
Officially titled Ravendawn, some still prefer to call the game Ravendawn Online because of the MMORPG’s website. Ravendawn may remind you of a similar game called Tibia, another 2D MMO with a cult following and rich history. That’s because Ravendawn is actually built on an open-source Tibia engine. However, despite the similarly odd view angle of the two MMO’s, the two are actually very different. While Tibia is a mostly linear “theme park” style MMO, Ravendawn is more of a sandbox MMO. I’d argue from a gameplay perspective, Ravendawn is more similar to Archeage with open-world housing and farming, a deep profession and crafting system, and the ability to create and trade packs to make money.
Here are some of the main features of Ravendawn:
- Open-world house building
- Hundreds of character class customizations across eight Archetypes
- Player-driven economy featuring crafting mini-games and trading across the ocean
- Fully fleshed out Tradepack and Shipping system via trade carts and trade ships
- Open-world PvP and Guild vs Guild to fight over land and resources
- Intricate Political system allowing players to become landowners, Lords, and more
