Nexon’s The First Descendant has all the trappings of a mobile title with things like overcrowded inventories and minimal explanations. Upon reaching Albion for the first time, or even looking at the official site, players are going to have the “Ultimate Descendant” bundles thrown in their faces with little explanation as to what they are. Let’s break down what you get for $100 in a free-to-play title.
Should you drop the cash on the fancy version of a character?
At the time of writing, there are five Ultimate Descendant characters available: Lepic, Viessa, Ajax, Bunny, and Gley. There are two variations to each character’s bundle with Ultimate being 3000 Caliber and the Premium Ultimate being 5000 Caliber. Due to the structure of the Caliber bundles, players will need either the $69.99 bundle which gives 3920 Caliber, or the $99.99 bundle which gives 5750 Caliber. Here’s what you get for that exorbitant price.

As for the “Exclusive Equipment/Ability” advertised on the site, it’s just canonical reasoning for their appearance. There isn’t the slightest gameplay difference between a base character and their Ultimate version.
When it comes to stats, the Ultimate Descendant Bunny has a minuscule advantage over the base bunny. The image above shows UItimate Descendant’s stats in orange against the base Bunny’s stats in blue. An increase in Max HP is the largest gain with slight improvements in DEF and Max Shield.
With base characters that operate 99% the same as their Ultimates and cost significantly less (300-900 Caliber), it’s next to impossible to justify purchasing either Ultimate bundle unless you’re really into the design. Even then, each character and their Ultimate variation can be acquired in-game and researched at Anais in Albion.
Personally, I’d rather throw that money at a full-priced new game or numerous titles during a Steam sale. To each their own, though. This is a perfect opportunity to vote with your wallet.
