With the new Lethal Company Version 45 Update, one of the new additions to the game is the Signal Translator upgrade. This upgrade also enables the use of a new interactable ship system, the Signal Transmitter. But what does the Lethal Company Signal Translator and Transmitter do?
What is the Signal Translator upgrade?
The new upgrade you can purchase in Lethal Company Version 45 is the Signal Translator. It is a new Ship Upgrade and joins the Loud Horn, Teleporter, and Inverse Teleporter. Once the upgrade has been purchased, it is enabled for everyone on the ship, just like the other ship upgrades.
Purchasing the upgrade allows you to actually make use of the new Signal Transmitter on the ship, which is part of the Ship Console or Ship Terminal.
How does the Signal Transmitter work in Lethal Company?
Once you have the Signal Translator upgrade, you can use the Signal Transmitter. Simply go to the Terminal and type the following in the console:
Transmit [message]
Obviously, where [message] is, you type the message you want to transmit to your other crewmates. Doing so with the Signal Translator upgrade will cause the message you typed in to show up on the screen for all other players. Here is an example:
Transmit Jester spotted!
Typing the above in the console would cause the message “Jester spotted!” to show up on everyone’s screen, as long as you have the Signal Translator ship upgrade.
If you do not have the upgrade, the person typing the Transmit command in the console will instead get a “No command detected” error message.
Now that you know how the Lethal Company Signal Translator upgrade and new Signal Transmitter command work, you can more easily communicate with your crew as they explore the moon. This is a nice feature that allows for more communication when trying to warn fellow players about any danger they may encounter instead of just watching them die.
When should you get the Signal Translator upgrade?
Let’s be honest here, if you’re playing with friends, chances are you are already on Discord. That sort of makes this upgrade useless, as it simply transmits a message on the screen of everyone in the game. There’s also a pretty big limitation to the upgrade, as you can only transmit a message that is a few characters long.
In most cases, this is probably one of the last upgrades you will want to get. The Loud Horn, Teleporter, and Inverse Teleporter all have more practical uses, not to mention more meaningful ones. However, if you’re playing in a public game or lobby with random players, it can be useful to transmit important short messages to your entire team.
