What do Hazard Levels mean in Lethal Company

In this space, everyone will hear you scream.

Lethal Company is the new Steam indie sci-fi horror hit that you should be playing right now if you have a strong heart. It tasks players with working together for a mysterious “company” that has them extracting mysterious loot (scrap) out of eight different exomoons.

Even though this company doesn’t much care for the safety of its workers, it has cataloged sparse but valuable information regarding the dangers awaiting players in these moons. The company has awarded a different hazard level to each of these moons, so let’s look into that.

What are hazard levels in Lethal Company?

Each moon’s “hazard level” is directly related to the moon’s risk/reward ratio. There are seven different hazard levels, but only six that you should be concerned with. Preparation plays a considerable role here, so let’s go through all hazard levels in the game.

Hazard Level: Safe

This level exists mostly to set the tone of the game. You’d expect a few places you visit in this game to feature this level, but nope. The only place that’s safe is the company’s building. All other places have at least one thing out to get you.

Hazard Level D

This level works mostly as a tutorial level. That’s probably why the only moon featuring this hazard level is the one called “Assurance”.

You’ll find a few pesky little bugs here, but you’ll have to seriously disrespect this level’s threats to get killed. Once you’re out of Hazard Level D, you will no longer be an intern, you’ll be this universe’s equivalent of a Star Trek Red Shirt.

Hazard level C

If you’re a seasoned gamer, you’ll have a hard time dying in Hazard Level C. Still, I don’t recommend you underestimate its dangers.

You’ll be facing a few more enemies which are also stronger, but the difficulty curve likely won’t cause anyone who plays smart to crash and burn. This is a good moon to grind some coin in a relatively safe manner.

Hazard Level B

Okay, this is when you finally start to play the game. The enemies are tougher, and you’ll also have to start paying attention to environmental traps. Looking in front and behind you will no longer cut it. It’s time that you start checking the ceilings above you, so get ready for some neat scares.

Hazard Level A

This is when the game starts to get really hard and twisted. Going on these moons is deadly. It’s pretty dark that you start having to pay to possibly die in awful manners in Hazard Level A moons.

Pretty much any monster can easily kill you in here, and there are many out there’s no lack of them. Play it safe and always put your survival ahead of possible riches.

Hazard Level S

Did an unknown stranger ever show up in an online FPS match to miraculously carry your team to victory? That won’t happen here. Being good alone won’t cut in Level S and beyond. You will need a strong team if you are to achieve some degree of success.

The best teams will likely bring stuff home, but they might not make it back in one piece.

Hazard Level S+

Think of all the sci-fi films whose plot is basically “unlucky crew gets stranded in space as an evil creature murders them one by one.” Hazard Level S+ is like being up against all creatures from every sci-fi movie, plus a few more that don’t even seem to belong in that environment. Enter this challenge knowing that your entire team might meet a grisly demise.

You can currently play Lethal Company on PC via Steam.
