Warzone players have one more week to play Ashika Island before it’s gone

Farewell old friend.

After over a year of being in the rotation, Warzone players only have a short amount of time left to jump back in and play a match on Ashika Island. Raven Software announced that Ashika Island will be removed from Warzone on May 30. The devs did not share if the Resurgence map will ever return, but it won’t return for the rest of Modern Warfare 3’s lifespan.

“We’re directing our focus toward other map-mode combinations for upcoming playlist updates. This is part of our continued effort to provide players with a recurring, focused playlist that delivers the best player experience. Nevertheless, the adrenaline rush of dropping on Oganniku Farms, the memories of tense final circles on Tsuki Castle or feeding the Sea Lion at Beach Club will endure.”

Unfortunately, as of writing, Ashika Island is not in the current rotation of Warzone maps. Raven Software will bring back the Resurgence map for its final week on May 23. Presumably, every squad size will be available, but that’s not a guarantee. The next CoD title will reportedly launch in late October, and nothing has been revealed yet about the next Warzone installment.

Given that MW3’s iteration of Warzone released new versions of Fortune’s Keep and Rebirth Island, it’s not totally out of the question that Raven Software could do something similar next year. But for now, Ashika Island fans should dive back in starting on Thursday and enjoy the Japanese island for one final time before it could be gone forever.
