For years, PC and console players have debated whether it’s more advantageous to use a controller in Call of Duty. Warzone content creator TrueGameData made a case for why it’s currently unenjoyable to play on mouse and keyboard.
TrueGameData posted a thread on Twitter, pleading with the devs to address an issue that occurs when trying to aim while using a mouse and keyboard in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. In the video, TrueGameData put a red dot at the center of the screen. While crouching, strafing, and moving the mouse, aiming idle sway causes the reticle on the weapon’s scope to move randomly around and never consistently center properly with the red dot. As a result, this makes it difficult for players on PC to hit their shots, and it’s not entirely their fault.
“I just don’t see how at least something like a 50% reduction to all of these mechanics isn’t just a win for everyone,” TrueGameData argued. The YouTuber elaborated that this wouldn’t imply a nerf to aim assist on controller, only changes to mouse and keyboard to make the overall experience more satisfying.
TrueGameData previously unearthed a glitch that made players on PC miss shots more frequently because of an aiming idle sway problem. Sledgehammer Games listened to that feedback and responded accordingly in the Season 3 update by improving the precision and responsiveness of aiming, with mouse and keyboard players in mind.
ADS idle sway was the culprit behind this strange mechanic, and now it initiates shortly after aiming down sight, rather than immediately. ADS idle sway will still be present, but it will gradually increase over a three-second period rather than starting at full speed after aiming down sights. But even after the update, TrueGameData still wants the devs to investigate the issue further, as it’s still an issue when players crouch or move their mouse.
