For Warframe gamers who are chronically online such as me, you may have heard of this “Green Banshee” meme going around, especially in the Subreddit. Where did it start? What exactly is it? We can fill you in on all the details below.

What is Green Banshee in Warframe?

The Green Banshee meme started after a Reddit user by the name of VaporTowers made a post on r/Warframe regarding a dream they had. In this dream, they said they got a “super rare drop from a relic that was worth like 500 platinum”.

The kicker was that it was just a normal, green Banshee Warframe. It’s not primed nor was anything necessarily different about her other than a green reskin (which you can do in-game with the right color palettes). 

As a Warframe player, it’s a harmless and quite hilarious sh*tpost. Many might find it annoying if they’re out of the loop while everyone else marvels about it. For a time, many were even confused about other huge memes in the community like the Clem one.

This meme has gained enough traction that even Digital Extremes made a little nod to it. It’s all just in good fun. We all have dreams about the games we play. Whether it’s finally getting that shiny new item to play with, theory crafting in our sleep, or something like this, it’s relatable.

It also hits closer to home when we’ve been farming for something in a looter shooter or other RPGs for hours or even days and we don’t get what we’re looking for. That weird feeling of excitement when you finally get that ultra-rare pull or something in a “legendary” tier that can be worth a lot is what this Green Banshee dream is.
