Usazum Shrine is one of the few shrines in Tears of the Kingdom that have you complete objectives in the form of quests to retrieve the shrine crystal. The shrine quests come in various shapes and sizes, with some being legitimately long side quests while others are shorter or even boss battles. In this case, Usazum Shrine’s quest, “The Satori Mountain Crystal,”Ā  is a boss battle. We’ve covered everything you need to know to complete the quest and shrine below. But first, let’s take a look at how to find it.

How to find Usazum Shrine inĀ Tears of the Kingdom

If you’re accustomed to spotting shrines from long distances by their distinctive green glowing rings, you’re liable to miss Usazum Shrine. Like other shrine quests in Tears of the Kingdom, there are no large green rings surrounding the location. This makes it difficult to spot even with the telescope. You’ll find the shrine in the Hyrule Ridge region of Hyrule, at the base of Satori Mountain.

The closest fast travel point for most players will be Hyrule Field Skyview Tower to the east. To get to the shrine from the tower, glide directly west across Aquame Lake and Regencia River until you get to the northern edge of Dalite Forest. Alternatively, if you’ve unlocked Sonapan Shrine, you can fast travel there and take a short walk south to Usazum. Check the screenshot above for the precise location of the Usazum Shrine on the map.

How to complete Usazum Shrine

To complete Usazum Shrine, you’ll need to complete the shrine quest “The Satori Mountain Crystal,” which requires you to fetch the crystal that turns into the shrine. Typically for these quests, you just follow the green line, pick up the crystal and return it to its proper home. However, in this case, the green line pointing toward the crystal disappears underground. Don’t worry, though, as this isn’t a glitch.

Follow the green line to the west until it disappears. At this point, a little further up the hill is the entrance to a cave. This is Satori Mountain Foothill Cave, pictured above, where the crystal is located. Before you enter, be aware that you will need to defeat a Hinox to get the crystal. We recommend having a strong bow and plenty of arrows to take it down. A good melee weapon will also help to hasten the battle.

Inside the cave, you need to follow the path around to find the Hinox in the center. The green line may periodically appear as the Hinox moves around so you can get an idea of how close you are. We followed the cave to the right and came face to face with the Hinox in no time.

Finding the Hinox is one thing. Defeating it is another. To kill a Hinox, your bow and arrows are essential. Its weak point, perhaps unsurprisingly, is its massive eye. If you can fire an arrow and hit its eye, it will be knocked down in pain and spend a few seconds gathering itself. Hitting the eye will take off a good chunk of its health bar, but while it’s sat down, you can also safely attack it with melee weapons to weaken it further. Be sure to move out of the way as soon as it starts to get back up. A single hit from the Hinox can be fatal, depending on how many hearts you have.

Repeat the process until it’s dead. Once you’ve won the encounter, the Hinox will drop the shrine crystal along with the usual Hinox loot. Take the crystal back to the shrine location outside the cave by pressing “A” to pick it up.

When you’re back at the starting point with the crystal, the shrine will start to form, and a cinematic, pictured above, will begin. That completes the quest portion of the shrine, but you still need to go inside like normal.

Unlike traditional shrines, you don’t need to complete any more challenges to collect the Light of Blessing after entering the shrine. Just don’t forget to open the chest on the way to the end. It contains a useful Strong Zonaite Spear.

Collect the Light of Blessing, and the Usazum Shrine is complete!
