[Update: I’m sorry to break some hearts here, but it turns out Snake will not be coming to Tekken 7. In a Tweet from the official EVO Twitter account, it was confirmed that the Snake cameo was a joke held by EVO without knowledge from Bandai Namco. Nothing was meant to imply that Snake would be coming to Tekken, though I have no idea what they thought would happen doing that.]

Announced after the Tekken 7 Grand Finals at EVO 2019, Bandai Namco’s premier fighting game will be starting its third season soon. After quite a bit of hinting at one potential character coming (!), we got confirmation that veteran fighter Zafina (from Tekken 6) and newcomer Leroy Smith will be added to the game. There wasn’t a whole lot to go on for each character, though it’s fair to assume Zafina will retain most of her moves from previous iterations.

As for the potential hidden character, rumors and buzz are pointing to Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake as a candidate. Tekken producer Harada loves to troll hard, but there was a suspicious codec sound ringing during the finals and even a codec call between Harada and the famous character. That’s far from a confirmation, but it seems likely that everyone’s favorite clone will be jumping into the fray to smack some fools around.
