Climb a tower to find the concessions
Imagine riding a roller coaster to the track’s very peak before plummeting straight down in an Assassin’s Creed-branded “Leap of Faith.” Or, envision you’re playing a game of laser tag, but it’s molded after some sort of Rainbow Six-like counter-terrorism versus hostage-takers model. More likely is that you’ll want to do a few important things, but you’ll get sidetracked by a million side attractions that guzzle up your attention and time.
Thus is life (probably) at Ubisoft’s planned theme park in Malaysia. The French publisher announced this morning that in 2020, it’s opening a 10,000 square meter “next-generation” indoor theme in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. It’ll have “rides, shows, and other attractions, all built around Ubisoft’s games and characters.”
The theme park will be a joint venture of sorts. Ubisoft Motion Pictures will have creative control, and Malaysian park developer RSG will own and operate it. According to Ubisoft Motion Picture’s senior vice president Jean de Rivières “Ubisoft will produce all digital media for the rides, and help design guests’ journey into the park to ensure the visitors’ experience is at its best.”
Ubisoft has its sights set on Malaysia because of its tourism and economic prosperity. “Malaysia is the second-most-visited country in Asia. There is room for multiple projects to take root in the region and a growing middle class with an increasing income and appetite for entertainment,” de Rivières added.
