Developer Twisted Key wisely decides to ditch on-screen controls

Despite lacking a tablet myself, I’ve borrowed my dad’s iPad (he’d say stolen, whatever) enough to know that replicating a gamepad on the screen isn’t a good thing. The best games I’ve played on a tablet or phone are the ones that design the experience around the touch screen; Três looks exactly like that kind of game.

Developed by Twisted Key Entertainment from Brazil, the story centers around a trio of heroes who are catapulted to an alien world of Atara. Julia, Bob, and Lao will traverse three episodes, each containing three chapters, looking for three relics to save three kingdoms. Notice a theme here?

Whilst I haven’t been able to get any hands on time myself, Três seems to be using the touchpad in a really simple way. If you’ve played Infinity Blade at all, you’ll recognize the similar way of casting spells by drawing a symbol across the screen. I felt that was a smart combat mechanic and it’s something Twisted Key is clever to use. Três also has randomized dungeons and an in-depth loot mechanic so if you’re in the mood for a combat RPG on your tablet, keep an eye out for the game on Android and Apple app stores later this month.
