Gretchins

That’s right. The lowly Gretchins are certainly an S tier unit – and no Ork horde is complete without them in warhammer 40K. Despite them being squishier than their counterparts, the Gretchins are headed by a Runtherd and are numerous.

For 11 models, you are only set back 40 points, which allows you to host lots of these scoundrels without putting too big a dent into your point total. Gretchins not only make great cheap cannon fodder that your opponents will have to deal with, but they come with a pretty nasty bite if ignored.

To distract your opponent, secure objectives, and be a huge thorn in your foe’s operations, you’ll want the Gretchins.

Boyz

It may seem boring to put the Boyz in this list, but I’d be lying to you if I didn’t. These Boyz are your main force on the ground – they can hack away at any opponent or become hazardous meatshields for your tougher units.

When paired with bosses and transport vehicles, your Boyz will become invaluable assets to your horse that will be capable of taking control points by storm and massacring entire enemy squads. They are not to be underestimated despite being a “standard” unit.

Even if your opponent is able to readily dispatch them, it will take some time and concentration to take them all down, allowing for your other units to do what they do best.

Big Mek in Mega Armor

The Big Mek in Mega Armor is an excellent support and offencive unit in Warhammer 40K. They are able to repair Meganobz and have their own Kustom Force Field. This makes them provide potentially so much more value than their cost if you’ve got the right army.

To maximise their effectiveness, you’ll want to keep them near your other units, especially your Meganobz, to allow the Kustom Force Field to protect them against enemy onslaughts. The level of protection here allows your army to get right up to your enemy without a scratch – something any army will fear.

100 points may be expensive for the Meganob in Mega Armor, however, they provide great value.

Stormboyz

The Stormboyz are an asset to any horde, with even merely one unit at 65 points making all the difference in any match.

These incredibly quick aerial Ork Boyz are an asset wherever mobility is needed. The ability to deepstrike adds to their utility, making them a tool of terror and objective-securing as well as being competent in battle.

If you need Orks to surprise an enemy or quickly secure a point, the Stormboyz will always be on standby.

Squighog Boyz

The Squighog Boyz make for good cavalry and anti-vehicle units that will complement any horde. With four chunky, quick, and tough units with a Bomb Squig for good measure, the Squighog Boyz will cause havoc wherever they charge.

The competence against enemy vehicles is what elevates the Squighog Boyz to become one of the best Ork units. Being able to close the gap relatively quickly between you and an enemy armor devastating your ranks make the difference between victory and defeat.

For fast-acting and tough units with a kamikazee Squig, you’ll need these Squighog Boyz in your ranks.

Nobz

The Nobz are the cruel and cunning ruling caste of the Orks, and you can see their prowess on the tabletop. For 105 points for five Nobz, you’ll be able to field a threatening unit who’s Klaws will rip anything apart.

If supported by other units, like the Trukk, then you can deposit these violent Nobz into the heart of battle to challenge in larger groups to really wreak havoc. Also, with a boss, they’ll be even harder to kill, making them a staple of any Ork elite forces.

For a more powerful generalist Ork unit, the Nobz are excellent for their value for points.

Meganobz

If you thought the Nobz were good, well wait till you see the Meganobz. These killing machines are worth only 30 points each, an absurdly low cost for how effective these creatures are at killing.

They host powerful melee attacks and good ranged attacks, proving them to be a threat no matter the range. Like the Nobz, if you manage to transport them in with cheaper trucks to the enemy front lines, you’ll immediately put pressure and pain on your enemy’s most valuable units.

They steal the show and rightfully so – the Meganobz will complete any horde they’re a part of.

Beastboss

The Beastboss is an exceptionally powerful Ork that will instantly become enemy number one for most engagements.

Ignoring the stupidly powerful melee capabilities, the Beastboss also benefits his Boyz by giving +1 to hit, making your horde that bit more fearsome. The Beastboss is also great against vehicles and generally anything the enemy can throw at him.

Make sure that your enemy doesn’t concentrate all their fire upon him, and you’ll find that he’ll rip them all apart.

Grazghkull Thraka

Just look at him. Grazghkull Thraka is the most infamous and respected Ork in the galaxy, so it would be a crime not to place him in this list.

Although he’s worth a whopping 235 points, if you’re able to strategize accordingly and keep him alive for enemy engagement, you’ll see how he’s worth every one of them. His devastating Gork’s Klaw will annihilate anyone standing in his way.

For a truly terrifying beast of war, Grazghkull Thraka is a fantastic pick.

Trukk

The Trukk is an incredibly reliable transport to get your 12 of your Orks into the fray as quick as possible.

Being able to charge 12″ will allow you to move numerous units onto objectives or into the frontlines without your squishier Orks getting pummelled by enemy fire. As it’s worth only 65 points, you could field two of these Trukks to speed in a large fighting force to threaten your enemies.

For a reliable means of getting your Orks stuck in, the Trukks is waiting for you.

Now that you know the strongest Ork units in Warhammer 40K 10th edition, you can fashion your Orky army to lay waste to all your foes.
