While plenty of companies have been dropping Tiger Woods like Activision drops Guitar Hero games EA has stood by him through his whole “I slept with every woman ever” debacle. I think it’s mostly because dropping Tiger would mean they would have to rename the game PGA Tour so their willing to take their lumps on this. It turns out they aren’t taking any lumps though, as EA Sports President Peter Moore has told GameSpot that sales for the Tiger Woods franchise haven’t slowed at all.

“We haven’t seen an impact,” he said. “We looked at December sales and then we looked at the year as a whole. The situation with Tiger unfortunately happened over the Thanksgiving holiday going into the holiday selling period, but there was no degradation of sales we could see.”

Considering the fact that people like golf games, and I doubt most of them care what the hell Tiger is doing when he isn’t on the course, this doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, but it is interesting to consider the franchise moving forward with Tiger off the course for an indefinite period of time. Moore realizes this as well, stating, “…he’s very important to the business of golf, and those that rely upon him are very eager to see him back. But it’s going to be his call when he comes back.”
