So the campaign of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty has come to a close, and here you are at the end. Through Pain to Heaven is the last stop on the line as you make your way towards not just the end of the Phantom Liberty content, but towards a new end in Cyberpunk 2077 altogether.
It should be obvious if you’re here, but a guide of Through Pain to Heaven will entail some spoilers for the conclusion of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Overall, the quest is pretty straightforward. So from here on out, we’ll be using spoilers as though you’ve played up to this point in the story. Let’s get to it.
How to get Reed to call you in Through Pain to Heaven
By being here, you’ve elected to hand Songbird over to Reed and kept her alive in the process, which guarantees you access to the new ending in Cyberpunk 2077. After the campaign’s credits have rolled, you’ll be onto Through Pain to Heaven, where you’ll need to wait on Reed to call you and start the next step of the quest.
This is one of Cyberpunk‘s sometimes-used mechanics, where characters will wait to call you and give you the next set of quest steps after an indeterminate amount of time. And to be clear, I haven’t seen a consensus yet on how long it will take for Reed to call V; it could be anywhere from 24 hours to several in-game days. My waits in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty were also on an end-game save without many quests left to hog my phone line, either.
So, if you’re waiting on Reed’s call, you’ll need to wait. It’s that simple, but as Tom Petty sang, the waiting is the hardest part. After that, you can simply follow the quest line ahead and reach the new finale, where you’ll need to make one last commitment with Johnny before setting off.
Best ways to wait in Cyberpunk 2077
There are a few good ways I’ve figured out to burn time in Night City. None of them are guaranteed to proc your next quest step, but a few are pretty likely. They are:
Manually skipping time from your menu screen
Starting a side gig
Fast travelling
Driving from one side of Night City to another
Fighting a quick combat encounter
Any of these seem to sometimes make time move “forward,” in the quest sense. Hopefully they help you cut down on your wait times in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
