Can you fix Error 1008: Can’t Purchase Lucent in Throne and Liberty?

Unlike many other issues in Throne and Liberty, such as Error 46, Error 1008 has no known guaranteed fix that works for everyone. While it’s as easy as restarting the game for some, others may try multiple fixes to no avail. Instead, your best bet is purchasing Celebration packs as a workaround.

Celebration packs are a promotional package NCSoft and Amazon released for Throne and Liberty’s Western launch. While opting for these isn’t ideal if you only want 500 Lucent, those who’re interested in the higher-valued tiers can get the same amount by purchasing Throne and Liberty’s Bronze, Silver, or Gold Celebration packages. They include the same amount of Lucent you’d get from the store, with the bonus of free cosmetics.

If you want to attempt to fix the problem so you can purchase Lucent directly, you may need to enable your Steam Overlay. While it isn’t guaranteed to work, several people in various Steam discussion threads and Reddit posts have reported success, as Throne and Liberty relies on the Overlay for its purchases. You can do this by heading to Steam > Settings > In-Game > Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.

Lastly, you can try the classic solution of restarting Throne and Liberty. As odd as it sounds, a surprising number of the game’s errors fix themselves quickly without further interference. When all else fails, it’s at least worth a try.

Aside from these solutions, it’s ultimately up to NCSoft and Amazon to address and fix errors. They’ve had multiple maintenance periods and updates to address major game-breaking bugs, so we’ll likely see more appear over time. Watching the official Throne and Liberty Status page will help you determine if a fix is coming soon and when to expect one. Otherwise, it’s mostly a waiting game.
