The trickiest part of fishing is finding some bait.

Fishing is a complex but helpful skill in Throne and Liberty that lets you catch fish alongside reward sacks. Its controls are tricky, and some bait types are hard to find, but it’s worth trying if you want some solid rewards.

Paste Bait is the easiest bait to find since it’s available as a purchasable item from Throne of Liberty’s premium shop and contract merchants. They’re also relatively cheap, allowing you to stock up on around 100 bait daily. The other three bait types are much more challenging to find, but they’ll increase the odds of catching certain fish, making them worth keeping on hand until you absolutely need them.

How to get a fishing rod in Throne and Liberty

Once you have your bait, you’ll also need to grab a fishing rod. Your two options for finding one are progressing through the main story or purchasing one from the Contract Coin Merchant for 300 coins.

If you don’t mind spending some coins, the easiest way is to visit the Contract Coin Merchant in Kastleton, Stonegard Castle, or Vienta Village. Here, you’ll find a bamboo fishing rod for 300 coins. It’s a little pricey, but at least you’ll unlock fishing early.

Alternatively, progressing through the main story will eventually unlock fishing and a rod to use. You’ll know you’re close to getting the rod when you begin a mission called Adventures of the Expedition from Adventurer Pro Percy.
