THQ has announced that it’s keeping hold of the Warhammer 40,000 game license, having inked a deal with Games Workshop this week. Hardly surprising, considering THQ’s had that license since the dawn of time, and published the critically acclaimed Dawn of War series as a result.

The deal has been signed while THQ and Relic work on a third-person action game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Essentially Gears of War without a cover system and featuring one of the coolest sci-fi settings around, it’s looking pretty damn good.

Good news, as far as I’m concerned. THQ treats the license with respect, and that’s all you can ask.
