The ultimate, best GTA 5 cheat codes and phone numbers for PC and consoles

Call in some help.

Grant Theft Auto 5 is all about cheating the system to get ahead. Nothing embodies that philosophy better than cheats.

GTA 5 comes with various codes. Granted, the inputs are slightly different depending on the version. PlayStation and Xbox consoles require simple button presses on the controllers. For the PC port, though, you must dial a number on the in-game cell phone. Despite that variety, these cheats have one thing in common.

Namely, they elevate the experience to ludicrous levels. With these tricks, the characters practically become gods within the game world. That world becomes all the more enticing as a result. You enjoy the unbridled freedom that these crooks desire.

Invincibility (For Five Minutes)

PC: 1-999-PAINKILLER (1-999-7246545537)

PlayStation: Right, X, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle

Xbox: Right, A, Right, Left, Right, RB, Right, Left, A, Y

The GTA world can be extremely perilous, especially in chaotic story missions or higher wanted levels. Like real-life humans, the characters are extremely fragile, dying from a few bullets or a single explosion. Thankfully, that fragility can become a non-issue.

This cheat ensures that you take no damage. Granted, it has a small caveat: a five-minute time limit. After those five minutes, you must enter the code again. Thatā€™s why itā€™s best to choose your moment. Try to reserve it for the most dangerous scenarios. Sure, it sounds like a pain, but itā€™s ultimately a minor annoyance.

During that short period, you feel like a Terminator. Carnage is one of the core appeals of GTA. This code lets you truly bask in such carnage without worrying about your safety. That entertainment value is well worth the tiny drawback.

PC: 1-999-HIGHEX (1-999-444439)

PlayStation: Right, Square, X, Left, R1, R2, Left, Right, Right, L1, L1, L1

Xbox: Right, X, A, Left, RB, RT, Left, Right, Right, LB, LB, LB

You have a wealth of weapons in GTA V. Sadly, they sometimes donā€™t have the impact they should. Enemies can take several bullets before doing down. That pattern is especially annoying with armored foes like SWAT teams. To mitigate this, the game has specialized rounds.

One cheat fills your arsenal with explosive bullets. As you can probably guess, these projectiles cause explosions wherever they hit. They blow right through most defenses on their own, but thatā€™s not all. They can also combine with flammable objects in the environment to wreak even more havoc. A few shots turn an entire area into a warzone. Thus, these explosive rounds are great for both convenience and escapist fun.

Bullet Time

PC: 1-999-DEADEYE (1-999-3323393)

PlayStation: Square, L2, R1, Triangle, Left, Square, L2, Right, X

Xbox: X, LT, RB, Y, Left, X, LT, Right, A

Itā€™s tough to get a lock on a target. That seemingly simple concept becomes even more difficult during a firefight. Hopefully, in the heat of the moment, this cheat lessens the stress.

The code slows down time when aiming. Michael already has this ability, but why not extend it to the other characters? You can now take as long as you need to line up a shot. Suffice it to say, it does wonders for accuracy.

Granted, the game provides an Aim Assist option, so you might think the code is null and void. However, that option only helps you hit an enemyā€™s general area. Bullet Time can make your shots even more precise, nailing the head and other vital parts without fail. Itā€™s also an incredible boon during chases, as these sequences donā€™t leave much room for careful aiming. In short, this cheat is everything you need to be a crack-shot criminal.

Super Speed

PC: 1-999-CATCHME (1-999-2288463)

PlayStation: Triangle, Left, Right, Right, L2, L1, Square

Xbox: Y, Left, Right, Right, LT, LB, X

With such a big map, the main way to get around is vehicles. The slow running speed and heavy physics make on-foot travel practically useless. This code flips the script, though.

The cheat lets you run at a superhuman speed. It essentially turns the characters into Sonic the Hedgehog.  Once they get going, they outpace most vehicles. Not only is this exciting in the moment, but it means you donā€™t have to hitch a ride to travel. That said, you still have to watch where youā€™re going.

The faster pace means itā€™s easy to run into walls or objects. On one hand, quick reaction times lessens that issue. On the other, you could stick to the open desert regions where Trevor lives. With less obstacles around, hopeful marathon runners can see just how fast they can go. Mary-Ann would be proud.

Super Jump

PC: 1-999-HOPTOIT (1-999-4678648)

PlayStation: Left, Left, Triangle, Triangle, Right, Right, Left, Right, Square, R1, R2

Xbox: Left, Left, Y, Y, Right, Right, Left, Right, X, RB, RT

Hereā€™s a bizarre code. GTA V rarely gives any reason to jump. Thatā€™s mainly due to the pitiful height and the aforementioned physics. How strange that a cheat code turns it into one of the most enjoyable means of traversal.

As the name suggests, this input lets you leap several feet into the air. You can clear huge distances in a single bound. The sight is ridiculous yet oddly useful. Los Santos has numerous rolling hillsā€”both inside and outside the main city. These are cumbersome to cross with vehicles, as they cause even the sturdiest car to flip over. The Super Jump lets you easily clear these low rises while maintaining your footing. Sometimes, unconventional methods are the best.

Super Swim

PC: 1-999-GOTGILLS (1-999-46844557)

PlayStation: Left, Left, L1, Right, Right, R2, Left, L2, Right

Xbox: Left, Left, LB, Right, Right, RT, Left, LT, Right

Los Santos is based on Los Angeles, so it obviously has a lot of water surrounding it. These currents are a royal pain to navigate. Few marine vehicles exist, and the game spreads them thinly across the harbor and beach areas. Worse, they donā€™t handle very well. Because of that, youā€™ll be slowly swimming for several minutes at a time. Why not skip that tedious journey?

One cheat code lets you shoot through the water like a penguin. That pace applies both above and below the surface. Combined with better turning, it makes swimming more appealing than any speed boat or submarine. More importantly, it means water is actually a viable means of travel.
