Finding the opposite of angels
Bayonetta 2 sound designer Daisuke Sakata touched on how he goes about designing sounds for his games in a recent post on the PlatinumGames blog. In particular, Sakata talks about the presence of both angel and demon enemies in Bayonetta 2, and how he created sounds for each.
He stated that the angelic sounds were taken from the first game, as he had already figured out his overall concept as to how angels should sound. His big challenge was figuring out what a demonic sound was, as those enemies were not in the first game.
Sakata stated that if angelic sounds could be described as “sacred and divine,” then he figured that demonic sounds would be best characterized by the opposite, with words like “profane and unholy.” He said that he started from that concept and used those keywords as a guide.
Bayonetta 2 will be released in October for the Wii U and will include a copy of the original Bayonetta ported to Wii U with enhancements. There were no innuendos in this post, so here you go: Bayonetta 2 makes me feel profane and unholy.
