Also major UI changes
Sony’s “Shingen” update (also known as 4.0) is going live today on the PS4. It’s mostly just a big UI update, and will provide new looks for the quick, share, and library sections, as well as a much-requested feature — folders.
The quick menu now covers a portion of the screen in-game so you can swap music around without obfuscating the entire experience, and there’s also a few new minor features like easy PS4 data transfers, HDR support, and pre-PS4 Pro tablesetting options (it’s out on November 10).
All of this still doesn’t really change the fact that I like the current Xbox One interface better, but improvements (especially folders, because I had that XMB knockoff layout on PS4) are always welcome. Next stop, backward compatibility and PSN name changes? Sony probably says “keep dreamin’ kid.”
