Getting the most out of your Tears of the Kingdom
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is close at hand, as Link’s latest adventure sets off on May 12. With the date closing in, you might be preparing to lock in a purchase. And because Tears of the Kingdom is a fairly big deal, you’ll want to nail down the right pre-order bonus alongside it.
There are many different special accouterments to acquire for your new Zelda, though. Maybe it’s a wall scroll, or a steelbook cover, or a big fancy Collector’s Edition with all the bells and whistles. A Zelda game doesn’t come along every day, so it might be worth celebrating. Or maybe you’re looking at that $70 price tag and saying, “I better make every penny count.”
Either way, here’s a list of all the pre-order options and bonuses for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom eShop bonus
Yes, this is the basic version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But while it’s lacking in physical goodies, picking up the Tears of the Kingdom on the Nintendo eShop does net you a different kind of benefit in Gold Points. These Gold Points give you credit for a future game purchase, and the new Zelda will give you 350 Gold Points toward a future purchase.
Plus, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is Game Voucher eligible, so you can save a bit more if you know you’ll be picking this up alongside, say, Advance Wars, that’s an easy way to save. Saving money: the ultimate pre-order bonus.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Deluxe Edition
Tears of the Kingdom‘s Collector’s Deluxe Edition is the big, lush way to purchase your Tears of the Kingdom copy. It comes with the game, a steelbook, an Iconart poster, a pin set, and an art book for $129.99, with a big box to hold all of it.
That’s the upside. The downside? It’s been in fairly high demand, with stock routinely popping up and disappearing on places like Best Buy, Amazon, and Target. Your best bet to secure the special version is to keep an eye on deal-posters like Wario64, who are usually quick to get re-stock info up and in front of you.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Best Buy pre-order
Best Buy is offering a special art print alongside its physical pre-orders. (Sorry, digital buyers.) This art print features the cover of Tears of the Kingdom in a special frame, giving you something nice to hang up, even if you missed out on the Collector’s Deluxe print. This is while supplies last, though Best Buy notes that those who pre-ordered before the deal went live will still get it added retroactively to their order.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom GameStop pre-order
For something a bit more ornate, we turn to GameStop, which has a wooden plaque as a free add-on for your Tears of the Kingdom pre-order. It’s limited to one per customer and is a GameStop-exclusive item. And for online customers, you’ll still be able to pick one up in person by bringing your order confirmation page to your nearest GameStop.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Walmart pre-order
If neither print nor wood is your particular vibe, then Walmart might have the answer, in the form of a corrupted Master Sword wall scroll. This scroll bears the logo, the sword, and all the creepy green text that seems to be playing a big role in the new Zelda game. It is limited to one per customer though, so no fusing scrolls together and running out with a mega-scroll.
