Be sure to stop and smell the cordyceps

Naughty Dog announced today via Twitter that an exclusive The Last of Us experience will be a part of the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. Not much information is available so far, but it is listed as a haunted house on the Halloween Horror Nights 2023 event listing. We also got a brief announcement video featuring some clickers.

The event page claims that “you and your squad will join Joel and Ellie and encounter the haunting and overgrown world in a brand-new terrifying way as you make your way through an abandoned Pittsburgh.” The announcement tweet also says we should “prepare to encounter Clickers, Hunters, and more.”

From gaming to television to amusement parks

This attraction continues the multimedia spread of The Last of Us following its highly successful TV adaptation. The hit show has a second season on the way.

Meanwhile, fans eagerly await the upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer game. The project was delayed with no new time frame last month.

Even though we don’t have many details, this could be a cool experience. The cordyceps fungus has an odd way of being artistically beautiful and terrifying at the same time. An immersive haunted house experienceā€”if done rightā€”could be the perfect medium for The Last of Us.

According to the event website, tickets for Halloween Horror Night range from $79.99-$299.99. Fans will be able to experience this haunted house at both Universal Studios locations in Hollywood and Orlando.
