Ever since the announcement of Nintendo Power‘s cancellation, former Nintendo of America spokesman and official Gamemaster Howard Phillips has decided to start sharing all kinds of Nintendo-related goodies on his Facebook page. If you thought the Nintendo Knitting Machine was a strange piece of Nintendo history, you ought to check out the Howard & Nester comic that was never printed!

If you aren’t familiar with Howard & Nester, it was a regular series in the early days of Nintendo Power starring Howard — the magazine’s original editor — and a teenage pastiche of Howard named Nester. They were a two-man comedy duo who ventured into a different videogame world each month. When Howard left Nintendo, the comic was re-branded as Nester’s Adventures and ran for a couple more years.

This is Howard’s final official comic appearance before he left for Lucasfilm Games. However, Howard’s friends wanted to send him off with one final gift, a special Howard & Nester episode with a much more… err… explicit edge. Definitely not something that you’d want to kiddies to read! It’s naturally filled with a bunch of in-jokes, since it wasn’t meant for the public. I’m just happy that Howard is being so open and letting us into his world.
