It’s a tale as old as time. Well, as old as online games have been a thing. The First Descendant is going through its right of passage as the servers suddenly went offline within 48 hours of launch. Here’s the timeline and what we know thus far.
When will The First Descendant come back online?

(7/3) Update 4:36 pm ET via X: “Multiple players across all platforms are reporting server disconnection and login failure. Servers might be experiencing issues again.”
(7/3) Update 3:14 pm ET via X: “Server is opened now. MS Network is not completely recovered, you may experience unstable status of the server.”

Around 12:30 pm ET on July 3, 2024, players worldwide were booted from The First Descendant. Disconnects haven’t been unusual in the brief time the looter shooter has been live, but many like myself encountered errors like “LE:13” before receiving notices that the connection had been lost entirely.
The official account on X quickly made a post regarding the connections being unavailable. Judging from the wording of the post, it seems the issue was quite unexpected and the servers would come back online as soon as possible.
For those not checking social media or the hellhole that is the official Discord server, a new splash screen appeared when trying to log in which puts a, possibly unintentional, different spin on the situation. It states The First Descendant is under maintenance and lists a start time of 12:30 pm ET with no estimated end time.
At the time of writing, there has yet to be an official update from Nexon. I’ll be sure to update this as more information becomes available. Between this and Destiny 2 experiencing its own issues with gear and characters not loading, today is not a good day for those looking to loot and shoot. Perhaps the silver lining is that we now have some time to reconsider purchasing the Ultimate Descendant bundles.
