Since Koumei & the Five Fates, a lot has changed in Warframe, especially so when it comes to companions. Now, any beast companion can give you a chance at doubling your resources or credits on pickup, not just the Smeeta, but the Smeeta is still the top companion to have for loot.
Of course, Koumei & the Five Fates not only changed how companions work, it also added a new Warframe, reworked Caliban, and added in a ton of QOL improvements. If you’re looking to maximize your loot after the update, though, look no further than our Smeeta build below.
How to build a Smeeta Kavat for looting in Warframe
The idea behind this particular Smeeta Kavat build is support. This kitty is packed with all the support mods you could want, and it’s designed to stay alive as long as possible to maximize that support. This Kavat is not designed to fight, and thanks to its Posture mod, it won’t be fighting.
Posture: Elusive
Mods:
- Charm
- Tek Enhance
- Tek Assault
- Loyal Retriever (can swap with Resourceful Retriever or Prosperous Retriever)
- Synth Fiber
- Link Vitality (can swap with Enhanced Vitality)
- Link Fiber (can swap with Metal Fiber)
- Hastened Deflection
- Primed Animal Instinct (can swap with Animal Instinct)
- Fetch
Loyal Retriever is formerly the part of Charm that doubles your credit and resource pickups, but Charm is still worth running on your Smeeta Kavat for its rare resource and affinity buffs. That said, Loyal Retriever has alternative versions in Resourceful Retriever and Prosperous Retriever.
Loyal Retriever gives you a 13% chance to double your credit and resource pickups, while Resourceful and Prosperous give you an 18% chance to double resources or credits, respectively. Accordingly, we recommend setting up three different configurations with each mod installed.
How to keep your Smeeta Kavat alive in Warframe
Companion postures were added in the Koumei & the Five Fates update, and there’s one posture in particular that’s perfect for keeping a Smeeta alive: Elusive. This posture stops your Kavat from attacking enemies as well as gives it a 50% chance to evade attacks.
Aside from that, this build focuses primarily on building health and armor via Synth Fiber, Link Vitality and Link Fiber. The Link mods will increase your Smeeta’s defenses in relation to the health and armor of your Warframe. As an all-purpose build, Link mods are ideal.
If you plan on running your Kavat with a specific Warframe, you can check to see whether or not that particular Warframe has enough health and armor to make the Link mods preferable to the static-increase Enhanced Vitality and Metal Fiber mods.
This build does run Hastened Deflection for shield recharge, but it doesn’t run a Link mod for shields. This is because Catalyzing Shields is a commonly used mod that renders Link for shields ineffective, while the static-increase shield mod isn’t great on the Smeeta that has low base shields.
