Just as it is crucial to have the right weapons to fight with in Minecraft, you also need the right armor to stay alive. Armor will only get you so far on its own in this survival crafting experience, so it is imperative you consider some of the best armor enchantments in Minecraft.
Best Minecraft armor enchantments: Protection
First up for the best Minecraft armor enchantments is by far the least surprising one: Protection. This particular enchantment upgrades your armor to be more effective against all types of damage. In particular, each level of this enchantment ā up to four ā reduces your damage by 4%. This really adds up over time, especially with the later enchantment levels, and can mean the difference between life and death.
You can get Protection through an enchantment table. Unfortunately, enchantments are randomized so you may need some patience (and tons of gems) to find it.
Respiration
If you ever find yourself nearly dying underwater in this game, Respiration is the armor enchantment for you. It extends the overall breathing time you have while underwater, so you can explore ruins and the like to your heartās content. It has three total enchantment levels for you to upgrade to.
You can get Respiration as a random possible upgrade at your enchantment table. The catch is this enchantment is only available for helmets, so donāt waste your time with other armor pieces.
Fire Protection
Getting caught on fire is one of the most dangerous and annoying events that can happen to someone in Minecraft. Fire Protection reduces the amount of damage you take while on fire and it shortens the time youāll be on fire at the same time. This is an essential armor upgrade for multiplayer servers.
Fire Protection is a random enchantment table upgrade. It is available for all types of armor and it has up to four possible enchantment levels for better protection.
Blast Protection
My personal favorite of the armor enchantments is Blast Protection, due to its two-fold benefits. As the name implies, it significantly reduces the damage you take from explosions. This makes it useful for protection against TNT and creepers. However, it also limits how far you get knocked back. Knockback is one of the most frustrating fight mechanics that has caused death far too many times for me.
If youāre like me and want to get Blast Protection for your armor, youāll want to get an anvil. You can upgrade it all the way to enchantment level four. Note that you can only have one of either Blast Protection or regular Protection on each armor piece, so choose wisely.
