The Behemoth recently released the first ever footage for its followup to Castle Crashers, and it looks typically cute, amusing and fun. However, if you want to know more, don’t worry, some playtesting has been done and solid details have surfaced.
As you can already tell from the trailer, the game is currently split into four types of game: Block painting, soccer, gold collecting and soul collecting. The first game is fairly straightforward, you just run around the 2D plane, touching blocks to turn them your color, in an attempt to claim more blocks than rival players. Soccer is very simple too, with players walking into or punching a ball to get it into their goal.
Gold collection has players punching a giant goldfish to get it to disgorge precious coins, while soul collecting is about defeating opponents and picking up their freshly released souls. If you yourself are defeated, your soul is left behind, and you must reclaim it on the next spawn, provided someone hasn’t stolen it already.
Four very simple competitive games, but with the charm and style of Behemoth. Artist Dan Paladin says that the game is in very early test stages, so things could change dramatically between now and whenever it’s released. Still, looks like great fun already, and I can’t wait to see some more.
