Chances are we’ll see a Tecmo Bowl game on the Xbox 360 or the PS3 at some point in the future. The ESRB has listed “Tecmo Bowl Throwback,” a game with mild suggestive themes and familiar zany, old-school football action that we enjoyed on the NES or whatever.
Note that this isn’t a confirmed title: Tecmo hasn’t announced it yet, despite the rumor-mongering within the last month. But Tecmo is a business that, presumably, enjoys making money. This, and a new Fatal Frame release would do the trick nicely, we believe.
The ESRB details, which spill the beans on the game’s top-down play and general retro feel, can be read below the fold. If you can’t read, or don’t feel like it, we suggest you take a hike. Like in football. Right before that one dude taps that other dude’s butt.
New ‘Tecmo Bowl’ Is Definitely Still Coming [MTV Multiplayer]
Rating summary:
This is a top-down arcade-style football game in which players compete against teams around the country to become the “Tecmo Bowl Champion.” Some of the football highlights are depicted in animated cutscenes (with better graphics); a few non-football highlights depict cheerleaders wearing low-cut tops while dancing. And a jumbotron screen displays a 2D swimsuit model with some exposed cleavage.
