Confirming information that was betrayed by job listings a few weeks ago, Take-Two Interactive has announced the formation of 2K Marin. Based out of Novato, California, the studio is set to develop original intellectual property, in addition to helping co-develop products with other 2K studios.
“We’re focused on continuing to bring new brands and cutting-edge gameplay to market with the creation of 2K Marin studio,” said 2K President Christoph Harmann in a press release issued today. “2K Marin will build upon our success in creating and leveraging AAA franchise.”
Leveraging AAA franchises, eh? No projects coming out of the new studio have been announced, but rumor has the 2K Marin team working on the sequel to one of 2K’s AAA franchises called BioShock. We hear that game was not only pretty good, but sold a few copies — seems to us like that would be a good franchise to leverage, don’t ya’ think?
