DLSS is coming to Starfield, but it won’t be today. Developer Bethesda has released a bite-sized update for Starfield, bringing an FOV slider and support for Intel Arc GPUs. And that’s roughly about it, folks.
The patch is perhaps a prelude to the larger one fans have been clamoring for, which Bethesda has hinted is coming soon. Granted, players have been asking for the FOV slider update in Starfield for around a month. But there are also requests for a brightness slider, along with a myriad of other accessibility options and quality-of-life features that are mysteriously absent from the game. Today’s update hints at Bethesda putting a drip feed on the requested changes, leaving many to wonder when the big update is coming.
Starfield update brings FOV slider and other small improvements
The latest update is notably smaller than the last and addresses only a few concerns. For owners of Intel Arc GPUs, the patch does promise “Improved stability.” Here are the notes in their entirety via Bethesda:
GENERAL
- FOV: Sliders are now available in Settings that allow players using first person or third person to adjust their FOV.
PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY
- [PC ONLY] Improved stability for Intel Arc GPUs.
- Various additional stability and performance improvements.
QUEST
- Echoes of the Past: Addressed an issue where tunneling creatures could pick a location that would prevent progression.
What update 1.7.36 brings to the table highlights what it leaves out. For example, Starfield players on its subreddit note that the patch doesn’t fix a lot of bugged missions save for the one listed. The Crimson Fleet quest, Echoes of the Past, still has a rare bug preventing progress. Other players are a bit more optimistic, signaling the FOV addition is a promising start. Hopefully we’ll see those more substantial changes come to the game soon.
Update 1.7.36 is available now for Starfield on all platforms.
