Stardew Valley tweet teases money-hungry parrot

Stardew Valley fans get a new look at Jojamart's cutest mascot.

Stardew Valley remains among the most beloved indie games of the past decade, and its content updates over the years help maintain its popularity. Developer ConcernedApe fuels the farming fanfare with additions both big and small, and it looks like he’s teasing another.

The newest of these teases is an image of a parrot on top of a blue perch. It’s a cute picture, but the bird’s demand for money and capital J on the perch implies there’s more to it.

Fans noted these features and ascribed them to Jojamart, the supermarket chain that works as Stardew Valley’s antagonist. Blue is the company’s primary color and is transparently greedy just as this bird seems to be.

Stardew Valley’s farm-hungry community also noted the tropical setting, leading some to speculate that Joja reached Ginger Island. Some assume Jojamart expanded into Ginger Island, so its reach goes beyond Pelican Town. Others speculate that the parrot is an upcoming incentive for players to pursue working with Jojamart.

Whatever the answer is, ConcernedApe is keeping mum about the situation. Whether it’s for Stardew Valley’s 1.6 updates or screenshots from the upcoming Haunted Chocolatier, any context given is often vague.

It’s an effective way to stir up Stardew chatter, as fans get a look into an upcoming project only to have more questions than answers. I’m among them, so I eat these teasers up while coming up with my own wild theories.

Part of me gets annoyed these teasers have no elaboration, but it also adds to the fun of wondering. Whatever the answer is, a parrot demanding money from players fits right in with all of Stardew Valley‘s oddities. As for when we’ll see the bird, no one knows for now. Stardew Valley version 1.6 doesn’t have a release date yet.
