Sitting in plain sight
When players tackle the Gerudo Town side of the Regional Phenomena main story quest, they set themselves on a path to the Lightning Temple dungeon. But before you can ever get there, you need to complete a bunch of puzzles to unlock the dungeon. Here’s what you need to do to complete the standing back-to-back with the throne puzzle in Tears of the Kingdom.
Where to start the throne puzzle
It begins with first heading to Gerudo Town and saving the town from the invasion of monsters. Once you defend the three gates successfully alongside Riju and the soldiers of the city, you are ready to take on the first puzzle on the way to the Lightning Temple.
You can start the “standing back to back with the throne” puzzle in Tears of the Kingdom by heading into the emergency shelter with Riju. Here, there is a monument you can check out that will notify you that you need to “stand back to back with the throne” to light the way.
As you might surmise from this description, you need to find the throne. To do that, leave the emergency shelter and go above it to the throne room. Go behind the throne room, past it, and to the statue in the back. When you are back here, you should see a platform ahead of you, just barely visible in the sandstorm. That is your goal for this puzzle.
How to solve the standing back-to-back with the throne puzzle in Tears of the Kingdom
What you want to do is head towards the platform that is just ahead of you in the sandstorm. You can run there, or you could teleport back up to the Soryotanog Shrine above the city and glide from there to the platform.
When you arrive at this platform, climb atop it and you will see three small pillars that are held up together. Underneath them, on the floor below you, you can see something glowing that is slightly visible below some cracked rocks.
You want to destroy these rocks by equipping a rock hammer or similar weapon that can destroy rocks. Jump up and then hit the Y button to do a slam down attack. This will break the rocks and reveal the shining light underneath, solving this part of the Lightning Temple puzzle.
This light will shine up and then towards another location. You can follow that light to the next platform and then a third one after that to unlock the Lightning Temple and take on one of the four main dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom.
