Whereas there really was only a small handful of gun attachments in the old STALKER games, the selection found in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is downright impressive. Between noob-tubes, collimators, and silencers, though, many of them only really fit on specific guns, and that’s a big bummer.
More specifically, though almost every single type of optic found in STALKER 2 mounts onto the regular old Picatinny-style rail, they’re hardly ever interchangeable. What this means, in effect, is that the fancy 2x scope you can slap onto your Fora-221 won’t go onto the 416. Why? I don’t know; it’s frankly quite silly, and mods are bound to fix the problem.
In the interim, this guide will help you make up your mind on which attachment systems to invest in and which ones are worth simply skipping over.
Full list of all STALKER 2 weapon attachments (by type)
Before we begin, it’s important to keep in mind that all of the weapon attachments listed below fall into the non-permanent category. These are, in effect, mountable onto your gun willy-nilly via the Crysis-like attachment quick-select menu. The “T” key on your keyboard on PC by default. This includes optics systems, underbarrel sub-guns, magazines, and suppressors. Laser aiming modules, additional rail systems, muzzles, and foregrip attachments, on the other hand, are all locked behind mechanic weapon upgrades.
It’s a system that’s frankly far more complicated than it ever needed to be. I will give GSC Game World credit for making it exciting to get a fancy new gun to the mechanic every single time, however. Seeing what upgrades are available where is always a good time in my book.
One last thing of note is that even though some guns don’t come with attachment rails by default, that doesn’t mean you can’t slap some onto them. The MP5A… sorry, the Viper 5 supports various sights, but only after you’ve had a mechanic attach a rail on the top of its upper receiver. So, each gun is way more flexible than it seems at a glance, which is great news.
Pistol Suppressor
The regular Warsaw-pact suppressor that can be attached to most 9×18 guns in STALKER 2.
Fits: PTM, Buket S2, ZUBR-19, APSb
Assault Rifle Suppressor
A 5.45 carbine and rifle suppressor will work on your run-of-the-mill AKs, Grozas, and their modernized variants. Or, some of them, at least.
Fits: AKM-74S, AKM-74U, GROM S14, Dnipro
Sniper Rifle Suppressor
Eager to stealthify your Warsaw-pact sniper rifles? Grab this snazzy 7.62×54 suppressor and go ham.
Fits: SVDM-2, SVU-MK3
Pistol Silencer
Funnily enough, this “pistol” silencer won’t fit onto any of your pistols. Instead, it’s to be used with the MP5 and Vector stand-ins.
Fits: Viper 5, Integral-A
Tactical Pistol Silencer
The “tactical” pistol silencer is, in fact, a run-of-the-mill .45 caliber suppressor.
Fits: M10 SMG, UDP Compact
Assault Rifle Silencer
This multi-caliber suppressor will fit onto the majority of modernized rifles and carbines in STALKER 2, one of the handier attachments to lug around.
Fits: GP37, AR416, FORA 221, Kharod
Sniper Rifle Silencer
A higher-grade rifle suppressor designed to work with DMRs and sniper rifles.
Fits: M701 Super, MK1 EMR
High-Capacity Magazine
Specific variants of this attachment are available for a variety of weapons. Note that each weapon needs a unique high-cap magazine for it to fit. This also means that each of these custom mags increases your guns’ capacity by a different amount. In most cases, though, you’re looking to double or even triple the default capacity at the cost of weapon weight.
Variants available for: MK1 EMR, M10 SMG, UDP Compact, Buket S2, PTM, APSb, SVU-MK3, VS Vintar, AS Lavina, Fora 221, Kharod, GROM S14, Gauss Rifle, Integral-A, ZUBR-19, AR416, AKM-74, RP-74M (two types), Saiga-D12
Coupled Magazine
For those who are in the market for fast reloads rather than chunky magazines, a number of weapons have access to the good old jungle-mag trick. Whether by using dedicated attachment points or your garden-variety duct tape, this “attachment” lets you sort out every other reload super quickly. Once again, though, you won’t be able to jam a GP37 mag into your Kharod!
Variants available for: AKM-74, GP37, Kharod, Dnipro, Saiga-D12
Drum Magazine
The third alternative type of magazine accessible to certain weapons is the drum mag. These magazines are prone to jamming in the real world, but they’re no less reliable in STALKER 2, making them an excellent choice for mutant flush-outs, suppressive fire, and other such hijinks.
Variants available for: AR416, GP37, Saiga-D12, Grom S14, Viper 5
Holemaker-L
Need a shotgun underneath your long-range weapon? Look no further than the aptly named Holemaker. This is effectively a modernized version of the classic M26 MASS underslung door-opening shotgun, except this time, it’s here to dish out serious damage.
Fits: GP37, Kharod, M701 Super
GP-25
A fan-favorite for all STALKER veterans, this is the classic Warsaw-style grenade launcher that will happily fit onto exactly one gun this time around. However, it comes with the Grom by default.
Fits: AKM-74S
Two-O-Three
This is the M203 Picatinny grenade launcher or a NATO-style alternative to the GP-25. Handy for all the same reasons as its Warsaw-style competitor.
Fits: AR416, GP37, Kharod
Open Collimator Sight
A plain old Kobra sight that attaches to a Picatinny-pattern rail… but only on some guns.
Fits: AKM-74U, RPM-74, Saiga-D12, Dnipro, Grom S14, Zubr-19
Collimator Sight
This tiny red-dot sight is usually found on most modern pistols and sporting weapons. Sadly, rifles and SMGs found in STALKER 2 simply can’t get it fitted on.
Fits: M10 SMG, RAM-2, Buket S2, APSb
Holographic Sight
Egregiously bulky (especially on the GP37), this holo-sight is likely to serve as your close-quarters baseline on the majority of weapons in STALKER 2. You’re also probably going to wish for an EoTech soon enough.
Fits: Viper 5, Integral-A, AR416, GP37, Fora 221, Kharod, Dnipro, M860 Cracker, SPSA-14, RAM-2
PAO 2X Scope
A reasonably handy mid-range optics system designed for Warsaw-pact weaponry, such as the Lavina.
Fits: Zubr-19, AS Lavina, Dnipro, Saiga D-12
PSO 4X Scope
Another fan-favorite attachment, the PSO comes in handy for longer-range engagements… should you ever find them,
Fits: AKM-74S, AS Lavina, VS Vintar, SVU-MK3
RNBW 2X Scope
Effectively the Elcan and/or SUSAT of STALKER 2, this lovely little scope just won’t fit on your 416 and GP37. Why? Such is life in the Zone, I reckon.
Fits: The Rhino revolver, Integral-A, Fora 221, Kharod, MK1 EMR
ACOG 4X Scope
Thank goodness, the ACOG’s made its way into the Zone proper. Highly versatile and useful even at mid-to-short ranges, the ACOG is bound to be your trusty companion if you end up using NATO-style weapons more so than anything else.
Fits: AR416, GP37, Fora 221, Grom S14, Kharod, Dnipro, M860 Cracker, MK1 EMR
Storm Falcon 8X Scope
Currently limited exclusively to the M14 expy, this 8X scope is probably going to be too limiting to use for the majority of STALKER 2‘s engagement ranges as it currently stands.
Fits: MK1 EMR
The vast, vast majority of STALKER 2‘s optics attachments should be able to fit onto most any weapon in the game. Heck, even a select number of Warsaw-pattern optics fit onto Picatinny rails instead of the usual dovetail-style mount. So, the decision to limit most of these attachments to a select few guns is bound to be related to balancing in some way, shape, or form.
In other words, do not expect Escape From Tarkov-style weapon modding out of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. At least not until the modding community has had a chance to swap things around and expand the system. We’ll see how that pans out!
