Get excite, people. Spy vs. Spy is coming back.

The Spy vs. Spy series of comic strips, first published in the pages of Mad Magazine over fifty years ago, follows the hijinks of black and white spies who are constantly trying to outwit one another with absurd traps and has been the subject of game adaptations in the past with varying levels of success. While the most recent game to bear its name was an insufferable mess, an earlier trilogy of 2D titles (Spy vs. Spy, Spy vs. Spy vol. II: The Island Caper, Spy vs. Spy vol. III: Arctic Antics) were among my favorite games as a youth. I loved its clever head-to-head competitive design which has the duo competing to collect components of a larger item and escape the stage within a time limit with simultaneous, split-screen play — a rarity for the time. Hell, it’s a rarity today.

Judging from the one teaser image we were sent, it looks like we’re going back to that classic style and my guess would be that it’s going to wind up on mobile platforms, but Warner Bros. hasn’t yet decided to spill those beans.
