A tale of souls and swords, eternally resold

I love the SoulCalibur series, and I love what free-to-play games can offer, but a match made in heaven, these two are not. SoulCalibur: Lost Swords, is a free-to-play game similar to what we saw in Namco Bandai’s last F2P experiment, Tekken: Revolution. Presumably, players will have access to a healthy character roster but will be charged for play-time tokens, which can be purchased with real-world money.

It’s an interesting concept, except anyone looking for a SoulCalibur game to dive into can find SoulCalibur V on the cheap. Also, Lost Swords will be single-player, so there goes half your reason to care about a fighting game.

SoulCalibur: Lost Swords will launch in 2014 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive download.
